1992 Team Pinnacle Original Painting
by Chris Greco

Purchased from the private dealer who handled all the Team Pinnacle paintings by Christopher Greco. I regret not being able to purchase the 1993 version of the Team Pinnacle Frank painting, since the seller had both paintings for sale at the same time. But lack of funds stood between me getting both pieces. Still, I consider myself pretty damn lucky since I always favored the '92 version over the '93. <wink> ;-)

My apologies for not having a better digital camera - as the one I'm using doesn't capture a sharp enough image. You should see this painting in person - the detail is truly amazing. Not even the actual Team Pinnacle cards do justice to Greco's work.

Collector's Note: The back of the frame has Chris Greco's personal Letter Of Authenticity signed on May 30, 1995.

Sidebar note: After leaving Major League Marketing and the Team Pinnacle work in 1994, Chris went to work for Walt Disney Feature Animations and Sony Pictures Imageworks. Today (2006) he creates wonderful illustrations for The American Greetings Card Company as a Visual Development Artist. Please visit his amazing website here. UPDATE (10/12/04): I noted the sale of the 2004 Diamond Kings Original Painting. And while I seriously considered bidding, the fact that the artist put his name so blatantly on Frank's uniform made it less appealing, so I passed. However, if I had bid, I suspect that I would have won - the actual winning bid was several hundred dollars under what my top end bid would have been. ;-)

UPDATE (3/29/05): Just won the 2005 Diamond Kings Original Painting from Donruss Direct. A much nicer version that I was willing to plop down a stack of cash to obtain. ;-)

UPDATE (11/07/05): Just noted the sale of the 2005 Diamond Kings Update Original Painting. A great painting I wish I could have bid on - but unfortunately I had already gone through my entertainment budget and wasn't in a position to make a serious bid. I am glad to see that it went to a long-time collector of Frank and not to some damn speculator. My congratulations to redrallyrandolf. <nod>
