Page 7 - Minor Mystery Of The Unnumbered 1991 Arena Hologram
Autographs
10.29.07 - After getting a heads-up by fellow Thomas Collector 'gofrankgo' (eBay ID) - I was able to procure this variation from Frank's first certified autograph baseball card issue. Most know that this is already a slightly twisted issue - having produced two known variations: 'With 35' and 'Without 35' notations. But check this bugger out. (see scan)
Notice - it isn't individually numbered. I theorize the reason we're seeing this card is Frank actually signed more than the stated 1,250 autographs (remember - he didn't actually sign all 2,500 as stated on the back of the cards) Not much more, but whatever overage there was has made it into the marketplace.
I want to again send out a big 'Mahalo' to GL!
Collector's
Note: There is also a 'With 35' version of this card too. Making it 4 (four)
versions for fellow completists to obtain ... oops, forgot, you guys are now
called "Master Collectors". My bad. ;-D
Personal Note: There are several hardcore collectors who want to figure
out the breakdown of signatures via Gold and Silver holograms, and more specifically,
if there is a preponderance of one over the other. I mention in the 1991 Checklist
that I believe this to be a nearly impossible task.
In order to make that determination you'd have to identify a huge quantity of
the 1,250 autos into a massive database. Seriously, it could YEARS to
make that determination. Talk about a Herculean task! Let's just say there are
four versions. {:-D <laughing>
