Comiskey "Ballpark Cash"

learned about this unusual item through an offhand reference in an old magazine
article. 'Course as soon as I learned that the writer wasn't being a smartass
when he wrote about "Frank's Bucks" - man, I really wanted one for
my collection. Which led (and dead-ended) to a rather unpleasant Comiskey Park
official.
Years ago I called the White Sox front office for information about obtaining an example or two for my collection - but the receptionist who answered said she wasn't sure that it had anything to do with the team and suggested I talk with the park officials. (go figure - it's a different organization)
And when I called the number she gave me - the guy who answered was like, "You live in Hawaii. What would you do with it?" When I responded that I was a collector and a fan - he "put me on hold" for about five minutes - then hung up. And when I called back (and back, and back, and back, over the next week) all I got was a busy signal or his @#$! answering machine. So much for reaching out to the fans - I got a slap in the mug for my troubles. I only wish that mook was standing in front of me. I think, given my clean record, that I can get away from doing any serious prison time. <g>
Anyway, among the "surprise" auction lot of Thomas collectibles (the one that I discovered the retail-version of the Big Hurt Candy Bar) was this amazing example. I was soooooo happy - it was like Christmas in August! :-)

UPDATE (8/28/03) - I originally wrote that I wasn't sure what dollar denominations Frank could be found on. Well, after another try at contacting Comiskey Park (now US Cellular Field) I learned that Frank, like George Washington, has always been featured on the one dollar bill. Since then I've found two more examples from different seasons. Neat collectibles that I hope you get a chance to add to your own collection.
