1991 Birmingham Barons Appreciation Tile Stand-Up • 6"W x 6"H
Extremely unusual giveaway item. This porcelain tile was meant to be hung onto a wall hook - attached to the back is a cork frame. I'm continuing to research the context of what "contribution" is being referred to when thanking recipients.

When I purchased this unusual item I asked the seller for any historical background information - but like many sellers: once they have the money they're off to the next deal. It's also entirely possible that this is something homemade and created solely to sell to an unsuspecting idiot - like me. <laughing> X-D

But there's an 'air' of authenticity about this piece. First, most counterfeiters will produce something more valuable, not a weird tile with limited market potential. Second, whomever did the illustration went to some length to produce a decent image of Frank during his Barons days. It's not something a working con would do. Usually they'll grab some random baseball image from a clip art book or just off the web and slap it into place. And lastly, and this may not make sense to someone outside the design & printing industries, but notice: The tile has two colors with tight registration (wristbands). If it's homemade memorabilia - it's unusually detailed.

Note: If you have any information regarding this item please email me- credit will be given. <nod> ;-)
