Besides Big Frank's personal fan club, over the years there have been several collector's clubs which have issued cards as part of their membership kits. One of the more notorious in hobby history is the collector's club formed just prior to the Pinnacle Brands bankruptcy. More about it can be read here. These cards can be a fun and sometimes difficult challenge to collect.

1997 Topps Stadium Club
Member's Only Parallel Box Set
According to records there were only 750 of these sets created for the final year of the club's existence. A far cry from the inaugural year of 15,000 in 1992. Note: The way to distinguish these cards (including subsets) is the use of the words "Member's Only" lightly screened onto card backs.

Collector's Note: In addition to the parallel box set, a special club issue of 1997 Bowman's Best Jumbo/Supers were made available to members. Approximately 900 complete sets were issued. (see below)

2002 UD Collectors Club #MLB12
Available to "club members".
I'm still trying to learn how this all worked. The paper trail is long gone and no one at Upper Deck (as of 2006) was able to tell me about what this Club was all about. What was offered, who was solicited, membership costs, anything. <shrug>

All I could locate was the checklist from Upper Deck's website. It suggests a broader program, but the search engine (and I tried several different approaches) yielded no results.

Neat card tho'. :-)

1997 Bowman's Best Jumbo Atomic Refractor #38
Club members who ordered a complete set received a package of 12 Regular Jumbos, 3 random Refractors, and 1 random Atomic Refractor. According to published Topps advertising this was roughly broken down this way: 700 Regular Jumbos, 170 Refractors, and 60 Atomic Refractors.

I spent three years searching before I found one guy willing to break up his set, this was in 2000. Six years later, I located a major dealer who apparently bought out a huge block of these sets and has them currently for sale at a very reasonable price. Just a suggestion, but I'd add one now while there's still time; before the hardcore collectors discover that they need one to check it off their list and push the price up.
