For me it started off with Playoff's first attempt with their newly acquired "Studio" brand name (at the time it was freshly purchased from the bankruptcy court) I first saw the 2002 version and was awestruck - from then on it was an annual purchase.

UPDATE: As I'm writing this (11/9/05) in a stunning market move Donruss-Playoff LP has been forced out of the baseball card industry by MLB! '05 will be the last of the Studio line. I can't begin to tell you how sad I am. Playoff had done such a great job with Donruss brand name, and more specifically The Studio line. I was saving money for '06 Studio... and now.... <shrug>

2002 Studio Private Signings #10/15
Note: I was so enamored with this card that I went to great lengths in order to secure one for my collection. If you're interested - you can read the story here at "My Favorites" - it continues from there with it's own page.

2003 Studio Private Signings #2/5

Note: I first passed on this card since the photography and composition really didn't appeal to me. But after getting ahold of the 2004 and 2005 PS examples - I figured I now had to "complete the run". Since there are only five examples in existence - it took a couple of years of waiting. But I was fortunate that the White Sox won the World Series and a dealer finally figured it was "time to sell" - letting the market decide the final hammer down price.

2004 Studio Private Signings #3/5
Note: I'm not a big believer in a "player's number" being a reason to pay more for a card - but the seller made a point of it and I figured I'd note it here.
UPDATE (8.29.07): Check this out for a mind bender.

2005 Studio Private Signings #7/10
Note: I love the way the graphic design team handled the artwork - awesome card!
Okay, maybe they could've made the Hurt a bit larger. <wink> ;-)
