1998 Select 5-Star BONUS Update

Recently, complete sets of these inserts were auctioned off. Based on the individual numbering, quantity of auctions, and statements made by the seller, it seems that my question has been answered. This insert appears to have been fully completed before the Pinnacle Bankruptcy proceedings took hold in July-August 1998. And if so - to the best of my knowledge - is the only known numbered insert set from any of the bankruptcy issues.

Based on the numbering of the cards - I now believe all 50 numbered cards made it out of the printing facility. A remaining question: Over the past decade I've only seen 6 Franks across three different auction sites; and having been on the *constant* lookout for these bankruptcy cards - I would've noticed. So, where are the rest?

I took the four scans used in the auctions and put them here for your review. (obviously no point in putting up the Frank since it's already seen within the Pinnacle Bankruptcy pages)

BTW, I bid on one of the Derek Jeters (for fun and potential trade bait) and won by a surprisingly good margin. I suspect many newbie collectors, and even some long-time veterans, still don't know about this issue. Had they realized how difficult these actually are - there's no way my $22 bid would have taken this card. <g>
