1998 Upper Deck Retro
Quantum Leap #Q4

I noted in one of the card galleries that this is a pretty tough insert.
It was back then, and nearly 10 years later, it hasn't gotten any easier.

Personal note:
This is right on the borderline when it comes determining whether this is 'too-rare-to-be-considered-for-the-tough-list" territory. There were 50 numbered issues. Any fewer and I don't consider it just 'tough' - but also 'rare'.

Trust me, making that determination is a pain in the okolé (Hawaiian for 'backside'). I mean, where do you draw the line? Is 50 the magic cut-off number? Is 25, 20, or 15 where the line exists? Do you factor into your decision how much product was produced back then when compared to today? Does the premiere of an issue add to a card's toughness? i.e. Everyone wants one since it was "the first"? What about insert ratios? Believe me, this is a headache producing process. <g>

Anyway, the best bet to obtain one, besides continually checking in on eBay, is to talk with guys who busted the Retro Lunchboxes back then. I know of one seller who recently sold a Mike Piazza version on consignment for a customer who only recently got around to tackling a box of 'stuff to sell' - which was loaded with inserts from the late '90s. <g>
