Sold at the
Pinnacle Booth during the 1997 Baseball All-Star Fanfest in Cleveland.
Please keep in mind that it's possible I have never actually
seen this collectible, so the actual item may differ in real life.
I created the version above based entirely on descriptions given to me by
other collectors.
The one seen above (left image) is a regular tin rendered in Photoshop.
I'm told the differences can be found in the "starburst", "lines"
and "bottom tag" portions of the tin.
The retail/hobby versions were printed with red ink - the Fanfest tins had
gold ink.
If you can confirm or refute this information I would like to hear
from you.
The reason I'm asking you, fellow Frank Thomas fans, is that I have conflicting
reports about what this tin actually looks like. Some say it was no different
than the issued "Gold" tins that were random inserts in '97 Preferred
- only without an inkjet individual serial number. There might be some credibility
to that claim as I've seen versions like that and it would explain why some
don't carry the ink-jetted number. But others claim it's like the version
seen above. Settling this minor dispute will help all Frank collectors, so
if you can, please lend a hand. A scan must accompany your information.
I will credit your report - so don't worry.
*Still
looking for one myself - maybe.
