I
was genuinely surprised this hasn't yet made it into the two guides, Krause
SCD Standard Catalog and Beckett's Almanac. I've seen them offered by several
different dealers over the years and I personally own two (now three*)
of the 2,500 Individually Numbered Sets.
Identical to the pack issued versions except for their large size and individually numbered stamps, found on the reverse side. I don't know how or why this was created, or what market Leaf was trying to solicit. I can only say that they're genuine. If you have any concrete (and proveable) information on these Supers - let me know.
*UPDATE (5/30/06): Made contact with a seller who has a fair share of the early run of the sets, Numbers #5 - #49, inclusive. It took some hard back-n-forth bargaining, but I was able to obtain #0035/2500 from her inventory. :-)
