Unlisted 1992 Silver Star Promo

Above is the recognized 1992 Silver Star Promo that can be found in the guides.

And this is the unlisted 1992 Silver Star Promo -#1 of 2

As noted in both big guides - the top scan shows the well-known Silver Star Promo issued just prior to the release of a series of 6 hologram cards - their attempt to take advantage of then-expanding card collecting market. The set was produced but ultimately failed to garner interest in the hobby. But what caught my attention was neither guide mentions a second promotional issue I have in my collection.

As you can see in the scan above there's another, completely different, promo from the same manufacturer. If you look very carefully it says "1 of 2" (back of card, lower right corner) You'll also notice that it mentions the show event where this was distributed: "Easter Weekend Show '92". After several years of research I believe that this promo (second scan) was the first produced by Silver Star. Again, the promo everyone seems to be aware of is the holofoil version seen above - part of the second series of 6 cards printed for hobby distribution.

Note that this unlisted promo specifically identifies the publisher of Silver Star Baseball Holograms - Craig Anderson. If you have any information regarding what show was held during the Easter Weekend of 1992 or any information about Mr. Anderson - where, who, etc. - please contact me.

Do I think it's a fake?

Keep in mind that pre-desktop computer color image scanning, four-color printing, and hot foil stamping was a very expensive endeavour in 1992. Heck, even using today's point-n-click software it's still pretty expensive. So using 1992 technology - you can bet that this was a serious attempt to obtain an official MLB baseball license. Based on the graphics, placement/use of text, paper match, and overall design - I don't see this as a fradulent item. But I'll let the scan speak for itself. Do you think the guides need to be amended? I do.
