1995 Pinnacle Artist's Proof #226
Gold Refractor Variation

1995 Pinnacle Gold Refractor Foil Artist's Proof, Variant

1995 Pinnacle Regular Green a.k.a. "Silver"
Foil Artist's Proof

Extremely unusual gold refractor variation of the better known green foil Artist's Proof cards.

How, or why, this came into existence is unknown. I have absolutely no idea if this was a promo, in-house art department prototype, a variation intended as a 'top-tier' insert that was never put into production, or just a printing error. All I can say is that it's highly unusual and I've only seen this single example to date. (10/31/05) Also note that the gold foil is refractor-like and therefore nothing like the regular issue '95 Pinnacle cards.

If you have documented information regarding this issue - please let me know and I'll pass it on to both SCD/Bob Lemke and Beckett. Although I can tell you: Only Mr. Bob Lemke at SCD will actually respond.

You'll note the example shown above was graded by Beckett's BGS but was not cited for its gold refractor variation. There are two likely reasons why this occurred:

1) The original owner did not note it on the BGS Submission Form.

And...

2) Beckett graders are not the most informed individuals, due in large part to the fact that Beckett itself does not, and never has, listened to the very hobby they serve. It didn't surprise me, nor should it surprise you, that they didn't notice.

Beckett graders apparently never learned the famous Sesame Street song that teaches young children that:
"...One of these things is not like the others...".
