10 Toughest Frank Thomas Cards
1987-Present
*List amendment 10.26.07
This is my personal list. It is not "The List".
No
doubt you probably have a bunch of different Frank cards in mind. Believe me,
I understand. Hey, I've had many discussions with other Frank collectors and
usually the most heated debates are over which qualifies as "Frank's Toughest
Card". This is my personal list, based on my experiences and observations
after 15 years of collecting the Big Guy. Nothing more - nothing less.
And that means this is not an absolute list. Over the years I've changed it
to reflect current market conditions and my own collecting experiences. Regardless,
I think you'll find that most, if not all, of these Frank cards are particularly
difficult to get ahold of. I've made mention of it elsewhere - but this list
will not include 1-of-1's. Disagree? Click
here.
These are in chronological order - not in importance or difficulty. IMHO
they're equally difficult to obtain.
1. 1992 Donruss Diamond King Retail Super (Jumbo) #DK-7 †
3. 1995 Fleer Extra Bases Prototype Game Cards
4. 1995 Pinnacle Artist's Proof #226 Gold Seal Variant
5. 1996 Studio Silver Press Proof #93
6. 1997 Score Super/Oversized Retail #1
7. 1997 Topps Proshooters Checklist Card #2 and the Marble (Test Issue)
|
8. 1998 Pinnacle Brands Bankruptcy Issues (Any) *UPDATES - Two New Issues Located! |
9. 1998 UD Retro Quantum Leap #Q4
10. 1998 Score All-Score Gold Variation #3
11. And this space is for any extremely limited card that isn't a 1-of-1. A good example of this would be something like the amazing 2004 Fleer Flair Lettermen Super Patches - limited to 5 issues. This is also my compromise solution for excluding all those one-of-ones. <g>

I'd love
to hear about which ones made your Toughest 10 Frank Thomas cards list.
When I have a chance in my hectic schedule I'll publish it as additional pages
here. Update 3/2/07: See additional pages.
